How to use the Barcode Generator

  1. Pick a format and type the value. For EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A and ITF-14 you can leave out the last digit and the check digit is calculated for you.
  2. Download SVG for print and design work (it scales without blurring) or PNG for documents and websites.

Privacy and limitations

  • Your data is processed on your device and is not uploaded to any server.
  • Generating a barcode does not register a product number: retail EAN/UPC codes must be licensed from GS1.
  • EAN-13/UPC add-on codes (EAN-2/EAN-5) and 2D symbologies other than QR are not included.
  • Print at 100% scale and keep the margin (quiet zone) and good contrast, or scanners may fail to read the code.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I use?

Retail products use EAN-13 (or UPC-A in North America) with a GS1-issued number; shipping cartons use ITF-14. For your own labels, asset tags and inventory, Code 128 is compact and encodes any ASCII text.

Why is my EAN-13 rejected?

The 13th digit is a check digit computed from the first 12. If it does not match, the number was mistyped; enter just the first 12 digits to have the correct check digit added.
